It’s been a minute…

Thought I would step in and say hey.
I have not forgotten about you… I’ve just been very busy.
Working full time… grad school… just to name a couple things (the most critical things) I have going on at the moment.
2009 was a horrible year for me… was laid off, ended up leaving a job because of some racist buffoon (and there was a blessing at the end of the storm because I know am in a much better position)… I was not going to let little man stress me out because he was insecure due to his short comings. It was not worth the energy… so I chunked them the deuce and have not looked back since.
My father had a stroke… Praise God he’s still with us. I have had two friends loose a parent within a month’s time.

I was not at all sad to see 2009 go… and I can happily stand and say that 2010 has been a blessed year for me. The low point of this year was my 12yr old niece being hospitalized with pneumonia, but she is A-O-K now… Praise God!!!! She has sickle cell and her hematologist is now recommending a bone marrow transplant, so keep my sister, brother-in-law, and niece in your prayers while they are faced with this decision. My niece as already said she does not want to go through with it… she does not want to put herself or her sister through that strain. Also, most doctors will only do the procedure as last resort to save a patients life… her doctor is trying to prescribe it like preventative medicine… wanting to take it as an opportunity to possibly prolong her life beyond her 20’s, 30’s, 40’s…yes, that is the wide range she gave… but we’re living in today… we are not going to risk her quality of life today, due to the unforeseen future.

Outside of this dark patch, 2010 as been a blessing… still single, but that’s ok. Not saying that I’ve thrown in the towel, but I am happy with me… which has allowed me to weed about some bustas! They may have crept in on me under other circumstances, lol.

Oh yeah, and I turn 35 in exactly 20 days. I am not at all shy about sharing my age… maybe that’s because people mistake me for not a day over 28…24 at the youngest lol.

Alright, I’m out, have places to be and people to see.

Be blessed!

The Walk...

I have two paths before me, which do I take...
My will...your will...
Your will is perfect, my will is flawed...
Yet I choose...my way...
I walk…
I separate myself from you
I walk...
The further I walk, the more perilous my path becomes...
Still…I walk...
Confusion sets in and I begin to seek another route, yet continuing on my journey...
I walk…
Looking to find my way, yet the path is unclear...
I seek...but what is it that I look to find?
Feelings of anxiety overpower me...
I'm loosing control I speak aloud...
Why is it that my life is spiraling out of control?
Why am I stressed, why do I fret?
My mind is jumbled I can no longer see, for darkness has fallen all around me...
Worldly ammunition, near fatal shots to the soul...
The walking dead...not sure how to proceed in life, or if my life can be saved...
I reach out...
I feel a sensation, giving me inspiration, providing a spark to my soul...
I breathe in life.
Salvation.
...my soul has been revived...by him that makes one whole
God never left me, it was I that turned away from him...the holy spirit has always been with me, yet I've chosen to walk alone...
I reach within to find the inner strength that the spirit has instilled within me...
Now my mind is no longer blind...my eyes are set on him
I reach up, extending my hands to the father giving him praise, even for my darkest days,
Even when in the valley, I do not fret...for HE has shown me the way...
The SON now shines upon me...
I walk in joy...I feel his peace...
The spirit has renewed my spirit.

Are you guilty?

So I am watching Let’s Talk About Pep, on VH1…it is somewhat like an ethnic version of Sex and the City. The show follows Sandy “Pepa” Denton from the rap duo Salt-n-Pepa, and three of her close girlfriends as they live the single life in New York City. One of these friends is former BET Nightly News Anchor and current D.L. Hughley Morning Show co-host, Jacque Reid. I would have described myself as reserved until watching Jacque on this show. She seems to have a hard time giving in to her inhibitions. She has never experienced the big “O”, yet claims to enjoy sex. In my opinion, she comes across as stoic...

I'm here...

I know it's been a minute, but I'm still here! All is well...feeling blessed, blessed, blessed!

I got a new car, well it's new to me. Upgraded my 200o Toyota Corolla to an '07. Was looking at an Audi, same model year, only a couple of grand more, but it had 18k more miles on it...I have had my car for about 3 weeks now... and they are still calling me about the Audi I inquired about back then, telling me it's still available and they have brought the price down by another grand. Something must be wrong...Right now, I am not trying to create any more bills, and I am so not looking forward to a car payment. Of course I could have gotten more car, but my car is cute, and economical...it gets 30 MPG hwy, and 38 city. I got the S trim...and it so fits me...cute and not expensive to maintain.

Graduate school...I just turned in my first paper, and APA is kicking my butt! I don't recall it being so difficult when I took my Curriculum and Instruction post graduate courses. Yet this is a MA and not an MEd program, thus why it may be a little bit more focus on the technical aspects of writing. I feel that I wrote an "A" paper with regards to content, but I am anxious to see how I fared technically.

So I am so late with the updates... went to the NBA All-Star game...boring.
Went to a party hosted by D Wade that Saturday...boring.
But the weekend was not a total bust...got to spend time with friends...that's always a good time!

...and we're not going to discuss me falling down the stairs at my best friends house. OUCH!

The Day After...

Yesterday was Christmas, and it was a merry and blessed day indeed...

We had enchiladas, chips, queso, and charro beans. There was cake, banana pudding, and ice cream, but I didn't have any (so you know I had some ice cream and cake today). We also had fajitas, but we never got around to eating those...don't worry, we will go in on that this evening.

I got myself the following gift...
We played Rock Band... I suck on the drums, but I roc the mic...what?!

And now I am listening to Michael Jackson sing, "I just can't stop loving you...", with sounds of the family playing Monopoly in the background.

Happy to have family...blessed to have family that loves me.

2009 was a bit bumpy...but I am still enjoying each and every moment that it has left to give, while looking forward to all the great things to come in 2010!

Wishing you all a happy and holiday season too!

Questions...

annoy me.

Especially when they are questions about my personal life that have nothing to do with you.

How are you?

Is everything well?

What have you been up to?

These are questions that although may never get the truthful answer...I mean, do you want to hear me say that everything is sucks, that I'm not feeling well, and my life is boring and I have been up to absolutely nothing because there's nothing to be up to? No, you don't really care what's going on in my life...you're just being polite, so you will receive the polite response.

But questions...with me, many times go ignored.

If I want you to know, I will tell you.
