Hola!

I have been very busy…work is great! Could use a raise…but that will always be the case…I’m always praying for increase.

I picked up this cute Ed Hardy tee at Macy’s…I put it right back down when I saw it cost $79…it was not that fly. I can get me an iron on patch and make my own…anyone want to buy one from me. You can get a K-tee for $20, lol. Wait…I just might be on to something here…

I have a why and a what? But I want to know why I am not getting it, and what it will take for me to get it? Confused?

I had a pint of blue bell homemade vanilla ice cream for dinner Sunday night…it was yummy!

Anyone live in LA, work in the financial services industry, and need a job? Holla at yo’ girl!

I am sure it was not a one time opportunity…but why am I still like damn! Still kicking myself in the butt 3 weeks later for not capitalizing off that one.

I cut my hair off last month, then after seeing my mother’s beautiful ringlets, I just want my hair to grow back…so why am I thinking about getting it down even lower?

I need to win the lottery!

You know…family sucks! They always expect you to cater to them, be there for them, help them when they need it… but I don’t see anyone helping me with nada…can I get an occasional, how are you doing? Before you go in on your bullshit? So I guess it also sucks to be self sufficient, or to be perceived as such.

Hate to end on a negative note…so let me just say…

Just like a refund, make me bring that azz back, lol.

Not sure if that was ending on a positive note, but until next time...

Adios Amigos!

I’ve been busy!

I have had a lot going on…not too much time to type.

This past week the University of Texas (Hook’em!) hosted the Texas Relays. Well, if you know me, you know this is the only time of year I plan on going out. I partied Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Lots of stories to tell, but I will have to keep these to myself. Just know that after this weekend, Lollipop by Lil’ Wayne is my ish! Yeah, I said it...what?!

Well, since Dejanae had to front on me because it’s been a minute since my last post…I thought I would flash back to TX Relays 2007…

Kid Capri is a Punk Azz Biatch!

I just got back from a party hosted by a couple of friends. Now, I have been excited about this party because it is a reunion for black University of TX alumni within my age range. It never fails, I always connect with old friends when Eddie and Norm host an event. So, I walked out the door looking oh so fresh and so clean, ready to shake a tail feather.

Well…

Kid Capri was the DJ that was hired for this event. Now, usually Cut Creator is the man, but I guess they wanted to go with a different vibe. All I can say, is when we got there he was playing an old school melody that was not at all live. Then he went into his dirty south medley, and kept getting on the mic saying…”Were in the south, I know you can make some noise”… Yeah, but only one problem kid…this is the ATX not the ATL, so why should we get crunk about Young Joc and Jeezy *sigh*. Well, he kept trying to play that stupid “I know you see it" song, and the music kept cutting off. As I walked by the booth, I waved by hand across my through signaling shut that ish off…he saw me, and got on the mic and asked me not to do that…well at this time, the music was still not playing. I then told him, that we did not want to hear Young Joc, and he tried to clown me but putting his spotlight on me. His actual words were “Oh, so you want the spotlight, I’m going to put the spotlight on you”. So I stuck a pose. He then goes on to say something about not testing him with the mic in his hand…I told him I don’t give a damn about him and his mic in his hand. He then asked me if I wanted the mic, and you know I said, “Hand it over”. Now, I also tried to tell him that I know both Eddie and Norm, and I am sure they would not appreciate him disrespecting me in this manner. See while he called himself clowning me his little cronies were laughing, and of course, the more they laughed the more he kept on. He told me to come around to the side of the DJ booth and he would give me the mic, and I better make it good. Once I walked to the side of the booth, his peeps tried to block me like I was trying to get at him. BOO-HISS! I told them that his punk ass invited me to walk around to the side of the booth. He then walks up to me, leans over and says, “I’m the one DJ’ing the party….blah, blah, blah”. See the problem with this is, although you’re the DJ the crowd dictates whether the party is rocking or not…and at this point, you were failing at your job Kid. As he talked he spat in my face…not purposely, but he’s a sprayer, YUCK! So, once he said what he had to say he walks off, but note…he never hands me the mic…because I was about to set it off in that piece (lol, actually I was only going to give a shout out to Eddie, Norm, and the rest of my UT family). The security guard actually comes over to escort me out, and I let him know that I was going to talk to Eddie. Once I threw out Eddie’s name, the guard changed the way he handled me. Yeah I name dropped…so what! I talked to Eddie and let him know that I have NEVER been so disrespected (well at least not by a grown man). He was actually trying to clown me in front of a packed house, to try to make himself look like what? A man? Wow…he’s all of 55 acting 15. So not impressed. Yeah I know I jumped fly first, but damn, if he was all that, he would not have cared what poor little ole me had to say in the first place. Even my boy from the BX said the music was not good. Kid Capri is a Buster! And I will NEVER attend an event with his name associated with it again. Bring Back Cut Creator!

On another note...

I did meet Maurice Green, so it was not all bad.

******And the folks I met/kicked it with this year, so trump Maurice Green!

Please Forgive Me

I am not going to be participating in the 10k after all....I know, I know...I spent all that time hyping it up and blogging about it, only to back out at the last minute.

But I have a good excuse, or at least in my mind it's a good excuse.

I am a delegate (team Hillary) for the TX county convention that will be convening this Saturday, March 29th.

I had not yet registered for the race, it’s only $30 bucks, and I had the option to register in person tomorrow morning…well, once I received my convention itinerary…running was the last thing on my mind. I am to report for sign in at 6:30am and we are scheduled to be in session until 6pm. I have a long day ahead of me.

Not to mention…I went to Orlando on business last week, and I am still recovering from that trip…long story short…I ended up sharing a hotel room with a co-worker who got pissy sloppy stanky drunk…ordered stanky azz onion pizza from room service at 2:30am…and kept me up all night. Mind you we both had to be up at 6:30 am to work…but in her words “This is what conferences are all about, we party”. I am a recruiter and we were working at the National Society of Black Engineers conference. The worst part of the trip…other than getting no sleep, getting sick on Friday and being in bed by 9pm…the worst part of the trip is that my Caucasian coworker actually referred to us of African descent as colored…the first time she did it I thought it was a bad off color joke, I did not respond…I let it slide that once…the second and third time it slipped off her lips I was amazed that someone our age could be that ignorant…I mean really. But then I don’t know who I was more upset with at that point…her or the dude that referred to himself as “the yellow one” that was trying to fuk a white chick that referred to him as colored.

Back to the race…well, as excited I was at the thought, and as much as I probably need to…I have decided to sleep in on Sunday. So please forgive me…I hope you’re not too disappointed.

The Best of Both Worlds

A hoodie and a pair of Timbs head my way

He caught me eyeing him and looked at me, like I got this

Why you gots to be So Ghetto.

You don’t know me

What more can I say? This is BK and you can have it your way…

Cuz ain’t no nigga gon’ get you bodied like me.

Baby Boy stop the talking and work it out.

No need to fight this temptation the Kitty Katt is purring…

Screwed and chopped

Twisted and Throwed

What's up with the title?

Well, last time I checked, that's how much time I had to prepare for the 31st Annual Statesman Capitol 10k...I have 20 days, 20 hours, and I am sure the minutes and seconds have dwindled down since...

This really should not be an issue right? Wrong?!

I am so out of shape it is not even funny. I have exercising a bit more regularly this year, but nothing too intense. 30mins on the elliptical here...20mins jogging on the treadmill there...well...

I have to be in good enough shape to run 6.2 miles by March 30th...and let me tell you...and I am no where near that point.

With the race in less than 20 days, the most I have ran is 2.6 miles. I have been running courses that are representative of Austin...meaning a number of hills to climb...and these hills are kicking my azz. If they are steep, I have to walk up them, but the downhill runs are pretty cool...almost like coasting. My last road run was not easy at all...I might need to get some new running shoes, because by time I got back to my apartment complex, everything below my knees went numb...I could not feel a thing...I had to jump on the stationary bicycle for 15mins to get the blood flowing again. That run was only 1.4 miles, but I ran the steep hill on the way back this time...probably not the smartest.

My biggest problem is not getting tired and running out of breath...but it's the aches and pains. If I run on a treadmill the impact hurts my ankles and shins...and the same for the road. Running uphill makes my calves cramp...it's just a mess!

I need to learn how to pace myself...I am not a runner, never have been...but I thought, no time like the present to start. It's hard for me to work out just because I should...I need a real and tangible goal, and training for a 10k is it. I am going to try to do at least 3 or 4 races a year.

The good thing is, I realize that I don't have to run the full 6.2 miles...but I am going to push myself to run as much as I can.

Well...I am off to train...today I am doing 45mins on the treadmill.

Road To Denver

The delegation is on the county level…last night’s caucus was pretty much a precinct convention. From there you select delegates to represent your precinct at county, then state, then the national democratic convention. It was tiring, educational, and exciting all at once.

The process seemed to be grueling for those individuals who did not choose to educate themselves on the process before the evening. Many thought it was a show up sign in and leave situation…that is not the case here in TX. You show up to your precincts designated caucus headquarters. Caucus cannot officially start until the last ballot is cast in your precinct…and some Houston voters were still signing in this morning.

The primary poll judge gave us the agenda for the night. The first order of the night was to elect a precinct chair. We chose to elect the precinct judge because she understood the process, and we were trying to get things started. So we also had to elect a secretary and supervisors to facilitate and oversee the sign-in…now this was the hard part of the night, hundreds of people wanting to sign in to show support for their candidate…but in the state of TX to participate in the caucus you must be a registered voter that voted in the primary. So everyone had to be checked against the book before they could sign a sheet, noting name, voter number, address, and which candidate they supported. That was the longest part of the evening. During the sign-in we also began to split into the individual caucuses, there were not any undeclared voters, so everyone was either for Hillary of Obama…we now had two separate caucus groups. Out of the hundreds of people who signed in, only 52 stayed to actually participate in the caucus. So at this point, we are chit chatting and awaiting the voting tally for our precincts caucus. Out of the 34 delegates, Obama received 21 and Hillary received 13. So now we had to determine who would be the delegates supporting our precinct at the county convention. Things ran smoothly at this point, the older more experienced caucus members were very supportive of us newbies that wanted to participate. So we just did a show of hands, noting who wanted to be a delegate.

I met a couple of individuals that have several years experience as delegates and caucus chairs. They are going to really be a resource during this process. My mother has also been a delegate previously, and is currently an Obama delegate. Well, I think we all know I am a Hillary delegate. :D But we have nothing but the upmost support for each other. That’s the beauty of it…I caucused with a sr. couple whose daughter was on the other side of the room with Obama.

We also had 50 resolutions on the books that were supposed to be review before end of the night. At this point it was already 9:45 pm, there was a motion on the floor to move the resolutions up to county and we can deal with them at the county convention on March 29th.

I had fun, and this is my first of what I hope to be many…I am trying to become a super delegate. :D

But for now my goal is to make it to Denver in 2008!

Introducing Boutique Patrice

About Boutique Patrice

I must start by saying, I am a crafty crazy chic who loves trying new projects. I grew up watching both my maternal and paternal grandmothers sew, paint, make dolls and apparently I inherited their love and passion for creating things. I sew, knit, crotchet, and do a little bit of painting. But I did not start making scented candles and soap until 2003.

When I first got started making candles and soap, I gave them away to family and friends as gifts. It was then I realized how powerful word-of-mouth is! I began taking orders and when filling orders started keeping me up until 3am, I cried out for Help! And my husband, Ian came running. Since then he has become an integral part of Boutique Patrice. I value his input. Where I am creative, he is technical and its proven to be a great partnership.

We took a short hiatus in 2005, following Hurricane Katrina and relocated to Saint Louis, Mo. In 2007, after we'd settled down, we decided to re-open Boutique Patrice. While doing research, I decided to add two (2) new products, Bath Salts and Sugar Scrubs.

Every product is made by us, using only the finest of all natural ingredients. We have tested and re-tested and tested again all of our products to make sure that they are safe for all skin types and for the environment. Our goal is to provide quality spa products at an affordable price.

If you are reading this and wondering what to get me, I will take the Vanilla Hazelnut candles. Thanks! :)

Hillary in 2008!

Nope it's not too late...we have March 4th.

I will be voting early in the TX primaries and I will be casting my vote for Senator Hillary Clinton.

It's funny...those that I know that think both emotionally and cognitively are on team Hillary, but it seems that most black intellects in the blog world feel otherwise.

True, Clinton and Obama's voting records are similar, but when it comes down to it...they have different views on how to implement change. During the debate that was held at my alma mater, The University of Texas, Hook'em...Obama stated that his campaign has seen momentum because the voters realize that it's not really about policy...hmm...then what is it about?

Can he implement change...sure, but I don't think he has what it takes to implement policies that will make a great impact on this nation at home and abroad.

He is running on the slogan, "Yes We Can"...

But this is what I have to say...

"Yes She Will!"

Click here to read a fellow blogger's account of her experience at the Clinton Rally. Nice to see another woman of color on team Clinton. For some reason, I feel that my blackness has been questioned because of my political choices. I actually had one blogger tell me he was disappointed and loathed my decision. I just had to let him know that the feeling was mutual.

Why is it that we always expect other black people to jump on the bandwagon just because he/she is black?

Black is not always right.

Ok, now that I am off that tangent...

It's not too late for Hillary to take it in 2008!

This Time Last Year

I went into the archives for this one...

Get to know me...

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a personal blog entry, and I don’t think I have ever truly given to much insight as to who I am…my likes and dislikes. I guess I have been so busy to really sit down and come up with anything. Today would still be one of those things, but I thought I would just give you a little insight into me…

Some of my interest include but are not limited to Reading, writing (primarily music lyrics and fictional stories), singing, dancing, baking, and shoe shopping. I love to create and I always seem to need to be productive. I absolutely love football, and I guess you could call me a girlie tomboy to some degree. And for those of you who have yet to hold a conversation with me…I love to talk, but I am also a good listener! Although a night on the town is fun every once in a while, I do not feel the need to run the streets…I would say I am a homebody. I seem to have the most fun just chillin’ with my close friends and family.

I am into fashion, but I am not that into labels. I like to look good, but I don’t feel a need to break the bank doing so. Although I do not consider myself a label whore, I do keep up with certain designers, and I am really considering getting a pair of Citizen of Humanity jeans…well that’s if I can squeeze my behind into them. Although I would say I am a trendy individual, I tend to buy classic pieces that I can take from day to night, and give it my own personal flair by accessorizing. I rarely go into Saks or Neimans (however, I love their outlets stores), but I am not a Target/Payless kind of chick either.

I guess you could say I’m a picky eater. I don’t like sliced bread( it’s the texture I don’t like, and the taste of white bread), but I will make toast…but only using Mrs. Baird’s Split Top Wheat. I do not like condiments…no ketchup, mustard, mayo, tarter sauce, jelly, or gravy for me. I will eat honey with a biscuit every now and then, and I now will eat ranch dressing. I am a bbq sauce with my fries type of chick. As a child I also would not eat butter, syrup, or any type of salad dressing. I am not a big fan of chocolate, but I will eat a brownie, and I love me some chocolate milk. My favorite flavor of ice cream is Vanilla…preferably Blue Bell’s Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. If you want to win me over fry me some shrimp…I absolutely love shrimp, and I think I have eaten them every possible way. except for coconut shrimp…don’t like coconut. Probably the strangest thing about my pickiness, is the fact that I absolutely hate drinking water. Water is so gross to me…it either taste soapy, bitter, or rusty. YUCK! I can however tolerate the taste of Fiji Water, and I drink Vitamin Water’s Revive (which is truly watered down fruit punch). I am also very particular about the look and smell of my food. I will not eat anything from anywhere. I abhor potlucks!

Favorite NFL team: Tennessee Titans
Favorite Movies: Forrest Gump, The Color Purple, Coming to America, Friday (the original only), The Five Heartbeats, Grease, The Wiz, and now Dreamgirls.
Favorite musical artists: Prince, Chaka Kahn, Rick James, Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, and New Edition...And you know what….I even like Beyonce, might go see her perform at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo…oh the horror! LOL

Well, not that I have given you a few tid bits about me…thanks for stopping by and have a good day! *smiles*

******************

Things are pretty much the same, but now Vitamin Water XXX has replaced revive...that and Gatorade G2 Red...yes red is a flavor lol.

I also must now admit that I have a crush on Trey Songz and I like dancing to snap music...yes I said it...what?!

I think that Levi 515's are now my favorite jeans...and my favorite outfit is a pair of jeans, tee, and pair of pumps or cowboy boots...yes, I wear cowboy boots...what?! Yeah, thought so. *sticks out tongue*

Fear Factor

I am terrified of heights, which translates to being afraid of many things…I have never ridden a roller coaster, nor have I ever boarded an airplane. Well…when I took my job I knew there was some travel involved…I have been with the company 6 months and the traveling has come sooner than later. I am going to Orlando next month. I would have to say, when I first heard the news, I was excited. I have promised that I would face my fear and get on a plane this year…now I don’t have an excuse not to. The flight from Austin to Orlando will be take approx 3.5 hours, which is longer than I wanted to be in the air for my first run. I was thinking a 45min flight to Houston or Dallas…but oh well. I will not let fear be a determining factor in regards to my success...or lack thereof. I enjoy what I do, and I am not going to let being nervous about flying hold me back. I am truly excited about opportunity as a whole. No time like the present to conquer those fears. No more regrets. Good things are happening in 2008, and I foresee the year will only get better!

Phenomenal Woman-Maya Angelou

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Thought For The Day

Sometimes those who choose to walk in your shadow are actually keeping you from shining. The forecast shifts from sunny to cloudy then all of a sudden the shadow disappears, it's hard to tell where you end and they begin…which is exactly what they want.

Should I trust my gut?

Do I trust my heart or do I trust my head?

Both of them are pretty cloudy right now, and I don’t know what’s real, what’s the truth, what’s an embellishment, and what’s an outright lie.

Should I trust my gut? Well right now my gut is twisted in knots; I want to go with what she is telling me, but what if I am hearing her wrong? I think my heart is confusing things. I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt…but when I start to doubt you, it takes a lot to overcome that. Meaning, I will distance myself from you. Our interaction will be on an as needed basis… few and far between.

Truly, it takes me years to get to the level that I trust someone enough to regard them as family. My best friend, I’ve known her for years, we have been friends for 15 years, but I would say that it’s been the past 9 years that I really started to look at her not as my friend, but as my sister.

Meeting new people can be great, making new friends could be even better…but you only get what people are willing to give. And sometimes what you get is not the truth, it’s a facade, it’s make believe…then as the truth begins to reveal itself, you truly start to question the person in front of you…are they who they claim to be? Can I trust them to be my friend? Should I keep them as an associate? Am I reading too much into things? Am I not reading enough into the situation?

All I know is if the thought of not having you in my life makes me sad…then I need…no, I want you in my life…Otherwise…well…peace.

I have been uncharacteristically passive…but that is about to stop. The gloves are now off, no holds barred. If I’m looking at you sideways and crooked…trust me, you will know it.

Some people truly live in a fantasy world. You don’t have to lie to make yourself look better in my sight. If people cannot accept you for who you are, they are not worth it. And if you can’t come to me as you are, then you are not worth my time. I am starting to believe that some people have a hard time recognizing the different between fantasy and reality. I have one of the wildest imaginations, but when the cloud pops, I can shift back into reality. Sometimes my fantasies make my reality seem dull...but I know the different all the same. I think that we sometimes blur the lines between the two, because we don't want to deal with our own reality.

At least be able to admit when you are at fault…If you are always in the right, or always lay the blame on others…well…it makes it hard to trust you. I can at least respect you if you can admit that you made a mistake.

I think my problem might be that I am always expecting folks to do me dirty, and then when they do, I am like ah-ha! I know, I know, I know…so not fair.

I just want to end this by saying, “Two tears in a bucket!”

I think it's clear now.

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968

I am at work today...I found it a fitting way to honor the man that sacrificed his life so that I could be afforded better opportunities.

How are you honoring Dr. King? How should we honor Dr. King? Well, I think that our every day actions should be a testament to his work...we should appreciate what we have...the education we have received, the jobs that we work...the "little" things...because once you stop and reflect from where we have come as a people...the little things don't seem so little after all.

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

Let me be the first to tell you…

Things are not always what they seem

What is done in the dark, will soon come to light

It’s time for you to be held accountable

Accountable for your actions, for the part that you play in your troubles

You always want to look to the outside…

Why don’t you try to look within?

Look on the inside to the root of the problem.

Look to yourself to begin to find a solution

See…I only know what I see

And there is apparently more to this than meets the eye

What I see is someone trying to cover up

But just what are you hiding is what I ask?

No, I am not saying that you are the only one not without fault…

Yet, you seem to think that you are the only one that has done no wrong.

Well…

Let me be the first to tell you…

Your roses smell pretty shitty.

Hate - Anger - Love

You ask?
What would make me want to kill a man?
I will tell you…
Looking at a man’s eyes red with anger and rage, so full of hate that I fear for my life…
That would make me want to end his.
Knowing that a man is so selfish that he would sacrifice his family’s safety…so selfish that he only acts for self, regardless of the consequences.
Witnessing a man steal from his children…not caring if they go without…
Watching a man strike my mother
Watching a man strike his daughter
Watching a man strike his wife
Feeling a man strike me
What would make me want to kill a man?
I will do anything to protect mine…even sacrifice myself
I am strong, come after me…but no, you prey on the weak.
When I look at you I see a nothing…
You are a worthless piece of nothing.
You are not worthy of the air you breathe
What would make me want to kill a man…
HATE, ANGER…
But most importantly, LOVE
The love I have for myself, the love I have for my family
Thank God for love…
Because Love saved your life.
Now I just pray for this cycle to be broken

Bounce Wit Me

Not too much to say right now…just wanted to tell everyone hello.

Cuz every time I close my eyes I think of you…

This song has been playing in my head (on repeat) today.

Today has been a long day…seems like I have been at work longer than 5 hours, and I stepped out to run a quick errand this morning…5pm could not get here soon enough today.

I’m looking for a real-time architect…know anyone?! Holla at me!

Thank God for friends willing to help you during hard times…also Thank God for those people who try to kick you while you are down, because they only make you stronger…hey, it’s good to have haters…then you know you’re doing something right.

And yes…there is a difference between hating and telling the truth…you hate, I tell the truth.

If you are not happy with your current situation, work to change it…otherwise, I don’t want to hear your complaining.

It’s crazy how your body gets addicted to ish…I have significantly reduced my caffeine intake…switched to decaf tea, drink Hershey Goodnight Kisses cocoa which is 99.9% fat free (still trying to figure this one out), and I have not had a coke in a minute…well that was until I bought one this afternoon…had a horrible headache, seems the caffeine is the only thing that will do the trick.

Can I Get A, by Jay Z is playing in my office right now…and yes I started bouncing when it came on...bounce wit me, wit me, wit me...

I’m looking for an event manager…know anyone?! Again, holla at me.

Forget the gym…I am going ol school with my workout plan. I went running yesterday…boy am I outta shape, I was sucking down some wind big time…but I did a lot better than I originally expected…and I was running up and down a steep hill. Not sure of the distance or the time I ran…I pretty much keep going until I felt like I was moving in slow motion. Happy to say, I am not at all sore today. Now, talk to me after I do my push ups this evening…that will be a completely different story.

I need a pair of jeans.

Should I go to NBA All-Star in New Orleans in Feb?

Speaking of New Orleans, a shrimp po’boy and a side of gumbo sounds yummy!

My pc has the dreaded blue screen…I am going to try to repair the OS…let’s pray this works.

And that’s all I got to say about that.

You

I cannot go back, all I can do is go forward
There are so many things I want to erase, so many words I need to say
Where do I begin?
How do I begin?
I have had a glimpse of life with out you, and it is a reality that I do not want
What exactly does this mean, I do not know
I do know, that you are important to me, and I want you in my life
Sometimes you get use to someone, something
You get in a routine, and you just assume that things will always remain
I guess that was my mistake
Things are different. Things have changed. Things might not ever be the same.
I hope not…
I hope for a future with you
I hope to share my dreams and aspirations with you
I hope that you can look pass my faults and see my needs
See that I need you
Sometimes I get a bit beside myself
I lose control of my senses and let my emotions take control
For that, I apologize…
It is unfair for me to expect you to think or feel the way that I do
Is it wrong of me to ask you to let me in?
Let me in on what you are feeling…
Allow me to share those feelings, be it good or bad
I am up for the challenge
I know the road ahead will not always be easy
What is easy is not always what is best
Some things have changed, but one thing still remains
I feel the same way for you today, as I did yesterday
My first thought when I wake up is still you
My last thought before I go to bed is still you
Sometimes I hold back, and not show exactly how I feel
I have worked so long to protect my feelings
The walls we build around us are so much easier to put up than they are to tear down
Sometimes it is hard for me to show you exactly how I feel
Sometimes I have a hard time articulating my thoughts
It seems the more I say, the more cloudy the sky becomes
I can see the sun rising on the horizon, and I know that great things are to come
I have allowed myself to breathe, and now I have clarity
It is clear what I want…
I want your arms to hold me.
I want your lips to kiss me.
I want your smile to welcome me.
I want your voice to whisper to me.
I want…
You.

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2...

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' auld lang syne

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

What exactly does all this mean...and why has it become the New Years anthem?

What are my plans...to do absolutely nothings, nada, zilch, zero! I plan to stay in and relax...will not be surprised if I don't bring in the new year alseep.

2007 was good, but I am expecting 2008 to be great!

Happy New Year Everyone!

This Christmas...

When we were little, and we knew we were not going to get what we wanted for Christmas...my sister and I would sing...

And this Christmas, will be
A very scimpy Chrismtas for me

And this Christmas will just be another day...

Yeah...we have so lost sight of the meaning of what tomorrow truly means.

At age 12 I decided that I was against the commercializatin of the holiday, and was against decorating or exchanging gifts....but my then 8yrd old sister was not hearing that.

Somewhere along the way, Christ has been forgotten. For me Christmas is a time to share and celebrate family. This Christmas will be the first that I will spend without my mother...she had to work. So, I just might head her way for New Years...maybe.

I did not buy one Christmas present this year. I just have not been in the mood...I told my nieces to catch me after Christmas...

I am baking a lemon cake and making a banana pudding for tomorrow...yum. I am also bringing the baked mac & cheese...let's pray my sister does not mess up the ham.

But back to the reason for the seaon...Jesus is the reason, and I thank him. As a Christian I celebrate Christ...there is no Xmas here...

But I do think that O Holy Night as sung by Eric Cartman says it all...

Jesus was born, and so I get presents...

It's Jesus' birthday we are celebrating...so why do we deserve to receive anything?

Happy Christmakwanzaakah...

Ah Bah-humbug to that...

Merry Christmas!

You Ain't Hitting in NY

Man, I my thighs are sore and my back is stiff. Why? Because I thought it was a good idea to visit my HS days and dance like Hammer. I was spending time with the nieces...um...babysitting actually...and they brought along some entertainment for the day. Well, after a couple of hours of the HS Musical 2 soundtrack and Hannah Montana, I thought I was going to loose my mind. Before I took the youngsters' cd's and destroyed them with my bare hands as I cried out in pain...I decided to take matters in my own hands and provide the entertainment myself. So, I went to old trusty youtube, and we begin to watch old MJ vid's...I'm talking Rock Witcha and Thriller. Even threw in a little Say, Say, Say because the oldest asked me who was Paul McCartney. Well, this led to my nieces saying that MJ was the best dancer, than Usher. I said "Don't forget to throw Hammer in the Mix", and they responded "MC Hammer?!", with puzzled looks on their faces. I forget, the only Hammer they know of is from the Nation Wide and Potato Chip commercials, lol. So, I had to show them how to Turn This Mutha Out...and I am regretting it 24hrs later. I guess I need to hit the gym, lol.

Rejected

Over and Over in My mind
I hear these lines…
Silly of me, to think that I
Would ever have you for my guy…
Yeah…silly of me…
To believe you, when you said, you liked me
I once said that I did not think I measured up to your standards
Your response…
How could you NOT know you are the highest measure?
Yeah, now I know you were feeding me a line
But see…to me…
That was real, it was my reality
Because for me, you set the bar
Funny how quickly things can change
The same man that gave me hugs and kisses, told me he missed me
Know disregards my presence, ignores my questions, treats me with disrespect
The same man who played the role…you know…
“I think I might get hurt because I will end up liking you more…”
Yeah, well…guess who ended up hurt.
I stopped looking once I found you...
Yet you continuously looked past me
I said I would not cry, but it’s easier said than done…
Because although you’ve forgotten me, you’re still with me
You’re in my thoughts, and you haunt my dreams
But as much as I am hurting right now, I have to press on
Time does not stand still, life moves on…regardless of what’s going on.
I think to myself…
Weeping only endures for the night…
For now, I’m rejected
But it was to be expected
See I’m Loving, Giving
And some just can’t handle it…
They are scared to be loved
Don’t know what’s it’s like to be loved
And I have just accepted
That with these types…
I will always be rejected.

You're A Mean One

I have been snacking on almonds and sipping on PowerAde all day…wonder why my feet are a bit swollen.

All I want for Christmas is…well, there are a lot of things I would like to receive…but as bloated as I feel right now (see above), I will gladly take a couple of pairs of Spanx.

I am ready for the holidays, so I can get a much needed break.

I went to the nieces choir concert earlier this week…it was a hot mess. You know, I actually had a pretty good music education by the time I was her age. I started playing the trumpet at age 8 and at age 9 I was learning proper vocal techniques…Ms. Ruthstrom did not play. But these poor guides, are being poorly taught and misguided. All I could do was *smh*, did not even find it cute or touching. They were singing without opening their mouths…monotone and lifeless. It was pretty painful. Thank you elementary school music teachers…this is something I later have to come along and correct as a vocal coach…speaking of…I need to get back into the groove. Wonder how talentless individuals could be so disillusioned that they actually think they have a chance of being the next American Idol…attend an elementary choir concert…it all starts somewhere.

I have been a bit of a funk…work stuff, boy-girl stuff, money stuff…just stuff! I have so much I want to do, and right now I have limited resources. I have a couple of deals that need to go through at the office…I've done all that I can to get them to close…fingers are crossed and prayers have gone up! Now with the boy-girl stuff, there is nothing that I really can do. I get no response, I get frustrated, he gets annoyed, I snap…I mean…what can a girl do? Sometimes you need a little reassurance…and if not, you have to go with your gut.

I am wearing a pair of clunky Steve Madden (man shoes) that I bought back in 1995…I can't believe I still have them, I am constantly throwing things away… and they are in good shape.

I made red beans & rice, mac & cheese, and cornbread last night...then I did not want to eat it once it was done. I did eat a little bit, and I have plenty of left-overs, anyone want to come over for dinner tonight?

I really need it to be the weekend. I need to get some much needed rest and relaxation. I was awake with my thoughts for most of last night, and to my surprise the monkey has not jumped on my back yet. However, I plan to go to bed early and without interruptions tonight. As an e-d friend of mine put it…worrying will kill you…and I am not ready to die!

My co-worker played my song today (as she calls it)…You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch….

Christmas-Christmas time is here…Bah-Humbug!

My Thanksgiving...

was nice…spent a lot of time with the family and hate all the turkey, ham, and dessert I could stand.

Then there was Friday…we played TX a&m, and loss…for the second straight year in a row! Ridiculous! Then my Tennessee titans got drugged by their helmets by Cincinnati…the Bengals? Who loses to the Bengals? And they did not just lose…they got theirs handed to them…by the Bengals?! Let's just say I have had a rough time in regards to football. So much so that I vowed not to watch any this week…easier said than done…I will watch the Titans next week (if it's televised in my area), and I will watch the Longhorns play in another Alamo Bowl…or Thrifty Car Rental Bowl…or Holiday Bowl…whatever Bowl it will not be the Fiesta Bowl…grrr (grits teeth). And now I have to root for the sooners…I always go for the Big 12 South team in the championship game…and I want OU to kick Mizzou's azz!

You now…I was off work for 5 days and I don't feel rested at all. I actually complained about having to come into the office today, but you know…I should give thanks…some people wish they had a job to go to…I really don't have a reason to complain…my life is pretty good…I have been blessed.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, I am craving everything but Thanksgiving day food…I wanted tacos on Friday, ate leftovers instead…craved seafood on Saturday, ate leftovers instead…had the taste for pizza yesterday, had left overs instead…I am NOT eating anything else related to Thanksgiving for a while.

Now it's time to get ready for Christmas…I'm shopping for two people age 8 and 9…and they are pretty easy to please…other than that…BA-HUMBUG!

I am a Christian…but…as a Christian I am very turned off by those who feel it is their duty (as a Christian) to force their beliefs upon others…be a witness through actions, testify what God has done for you…but don't tell others that they are living their lives wrong…my book says that we all are sinners…no one is perfect, as Christians we strive to follow Christ's example…but we will never get there…faith is personal…it's about how your beliefs make you feel, effects your life…and not all Christians view their walk the same…also you must remember the Bible was written by man…an atheist can use the bible to Prove that God does not exist…ones faith is what gives meaning to the words…and the word is the same…it's man's perception of it that changes. That's why religion is faith base…you will drive yourself crazy trying to prove your point to someone using the bible. You also have to think of the historical context of biblical times and remember that God made us in his image…meaning he gave us a brain…and I feel he expects us to use it.

God Bless til next time...

New Year, Same Ol' Thang

Thanksgiving Ramblings...

Oh Boy. The holidays have begun to become a stressful time period for me. I don’t know what it is, but I always feel like a chicken running around with its head cut off around this time of year. Go get this, go do that. There are not enough hours in the day. I took vacation for Wednesday so I could sit back and relax before I start slaving in the kitchen. I have done most of my shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, but I still have some last minute items to pick up…I always like to wait to get the produce.
My sister is buying the Turkey (already smoked)...for the 2nd year in a row, we are on a wild goose chase looking for a Butterball fully cooked smoked turkey...my dad picked up the ham (which I will probably cook). I love my family, and I enjoy cooking…but it’s something about staying up all night on Wednesday so we can eat turkey the next day. But on the other hand…I will get great joy and satisfaction from cooking a scrumptious meal for my family to enjoy. I guess it’s only fair. I’m complaining and this is only my third year to cook Thanksgiving dinner…my mother did it for many years and not one complaint.

Here’s our Thanksgiving menu:
Smoked Turkey
Ham
Cornbread Dressing
Macaroni and Cheese
Broccoli, Cheese, and Rice Casserole
Yams
Mashed Potatoes
Greens
Corn on the Cob
Green Beans
Yeast Rolls

For Desert:
Peach Cobbler
Sweet Potato Pie
German Chocolate Cake (my mother is the only one that likes it, and since it is her birthday, I will hook it up).
Italian Cream Cake (maybe)
Banana Pudding (possibly, my nieces request)

I am cooking everything, but the Turkey (already cooked, just needs to be heated), yams, and sweet potato pie. Oh yeah, my sister is going to cook the greens. So, I guess it’s not that bad after all...what am I saying, yes it is. For the past two years I have been up until the wee hours of the morning prepping and baking so everyone else will enjoy a nice delicious meal. But you know that hard work is well worth it…even if it’s just for one day. I have a lot to be thankful for, and I guess the most important thing is not to loose sight of this holiday. I guess my sister refers to me as “Bah-humbug” for good reason . So I will try to stop complaining, and be thankful that I have a family to cook for.

But just one last complaint...my little greedy nieces had the nerve to say we did not have enough ham last year, so we might purchase two, meaning one more for me to have to prepare. *rolls eyes* They better learn to eat turkey.

Tis the Season...

I Don't Play w/Wildlife

I have been really busy these past few weeks. I have been fatigued and just not feeling too well overall. The exhaustion as been both physical and mental. I have a lot of catching up to do. I need to work on the draft of my novel…I have so many ideas, and they are coming together quite nicely….now I just hope that others appreciate my vision.

Went to a University of Texas Men's bball exhibition game with my sister and two nieces last Friday…It was fun…the game was quite boring, but my nieces enjoyed it and I enjoyed watching them. The oldest is a hyper something at sporting events…I had to tell her several times that we were not at a wrestling match and to act civilized…kinda funny coming from me, because anyone that has ever attending a sporting event with me knows that I will yell and scream at will. I scream for and at my team as well as heckle the opposition…the niece (all of age 9) also has a crush on PG DJ Augustine, so now she is really a Horns bball fan.

I don't drink, and I always end up working in environments that has company functions that revolve around alcohol. They are typically pretty boring, bordering annoying for me…drunk people are annoying. I don't mind the socializing…just would rather not deal with the drunkenness.

"Silly of me to think that I, could ever have you for my guy, how I love you…"

This song as been playing in my head for the past couple of days. The possibility of something new has me reflecting upon the past. Yeah, I still love him, but I know we don't work. We tried not once, but twice…well I tried, I don’t think he ever put an effort into anything. He is used to always getting his way, not used to hearing no. I think I was the only person in his life that did not worship at his alter. He's not a bad person, and he probably does not realize it, but he has brought a lot of good into my life. Our relationship…or lack thereof has caused me to grow…I now know what I truly want in a man…want I am willing to compromise…what I can or cannot deal with. I also have learned that I need to work on being more patient, not being so quick to fly off the handle, not being afraid to communicate my true feelings…. that in order to truly forgive, and press forward in a relationship, I must be willing and able to forget. I don't regret my past…our past…but I am SO looking forward to the future.

We have a contest going on in the office this week…the team member that produces the most gets $100 cash money…I am winning that money. LOL…I'm laughing, but I am so serious. I am also working hard to meet our quarterly goal…actually I want to exceed our goal, that means an accelerated bonus…then if we meet our stretch goal as a company Simon Mall gift cards for everyone. I work hard for the money…

I bet I am the only one that had a deer outside her office window yesterday…I was a little uneasy leaving the office yesterday evening too…I don't play with wild life.

We have an office Christmas Party on December 7th…I am probably the only one not too excited about it…I need a date…if you're interested call me.

K-Spot Flash Back: Lawd Help Me Now

This went down September of last year. So tell me why it's October 2007, and I feel something hard under my gum where my wisdom tooth once resided. I really hope that the fragment was taken out, and it just healed funky...I really hope he did not leave a portion of the tooth...that would not be a good thing...

Well, as those of you who visit my spot regularly know, I had the top and bottom right wisdom teeth removed last month. Juiicyscoop recently asked me “girl how are your damn teef doing”. And it reminded me of the day I had my procedure done. I have to pre-medicate (4 amoxicillin 1 hour prior to procedure) before any dental procedures, even for a routine cleaning. When I went in for my consult the Dr. gave me to scripts…one for a mouth rinse, and the other was for Vicatin. Which I never got filled. Baby’s a soldier, I don’t need the heavy duty pain killers, just give me some Ibuprofen or Tylenol. I had the prescriptions filled before my procedure because the last thing I wanted was to sit in Wal-greens and wait on a mouth rinse. I decided to go with a local anesthesia, so I drove myself to my appointment. My sister was on stand-by just in case I needed her to pick me up. I arrive at the dr.’s office, sign in, and after about a 5 min wait, they call me back. I sit in the room for a minute or two and the dr and his assistant walks in. The dr. then informs me that he wants to prescribe me more Amoxicillin to take for the next 24 hours. I already have like 24 tablets at home, so there is no need for me to go get the prescription filled. They strap me up to a machine to monitor my blood pressure, and I see the dr pick up this long azz needle. He then asks me to open up wide, and informs me that I may feel a pinch. Well, he gave me a shot on the top, then the bottom and I did not feel a pinch at all. He then leaves me and says he will come back in a few minutes and advises me to relax while the anethesia kicks in. I was lying back, just chilling, then all of a sudden, that blood pressure machine starts beeping and the strap begins to tighten, and tighten, and tighten around my arm. I wanted to scream, I was not sure if this should be happening. The strap became so tight I thought I might loose a limb, just as I was about to call out, the strap begins to release…Close call! This goes on for I don’t know how long. Just like a Dr., no perception of time, a few minutes is more like half an hour…I’m probably exaggerating but it was more than a “few” minutes. The Dr. Returns and he begins to probe around to make sure that the area to be worked on his numb. He is poking and prodding and asks “Do you feel this?” “No” I answer. So then he begins to poke and prod a little deeper. “Ouch!” “Did you feel pressure?” He asks. “No, I felt pain”. The dr. chuckles and asks the assistant to pass him another one of those long needles. He administers more anesthesia and we’re good to go. Remember sister girl is a soldier, so I did not need to be under for this…No big deal, they are only breaking my tooth from the root in order to remove it, I was awake and I was going to keep my eyes open during the entire process…Right! The dr. asks his assistant to hand him an object. All I can see is her past him this huge screw driver looking thing…then it hit me. That is a big blunt object…he is going to have to grind that into my tooth to break the root…”Lawd Jesus Help Me!” I remember calling out to Jesus, I just don’t know if I said it to myself or if I said it out loud. I was suddenly a big chicken…”cluck, cluck”. All in All things were not bad. A piece of root fragment broke off during the process of removing the bottom tooth, so he had to poke and prod around down there longer than anticipated. A couple of times he hit a nerve causing me to feel pain on the left side of my mouth, and at times the procedure caused me to feel that my head might actually pop off. “All Done”. I hear him say as he sticks gauze in my mouth and asks me to bite down gently. “Thank you Jesus!” I say. His assistant came, told me how to care for my mouth, gave me instructions, and sent me on my way. On my way out of the room, I stop and look in the mirror…why there was a mirror there I don’t know. Why did your home-girl look like a chip-munk. I so looked as if I was trying to store food for the winter…very reminiscent of Gina on that “Martin” episode…”The dr. hit a nerve with the Novocain. LOL. So I leave and go to Wal-greens to fill my anti-biotic prescription. Why I don’t know, I already had tablets left over from my pre-med prescription. I call my mother to let her know that everything was ok, and I was now on my way to Wal-greens and I would call her once I got home. I enter Wal-greens and of course people are looking at my like I am boo-boo the fool. They are probably wondering…”Is it safe to be around her”. I then have to attempt to talk to the pharmacy tech as I drop off my prescription. I decide to wait for it to be filled because I am not trying to come back later. There is a lady that is already sitting in the waiting area, and she looks at me like “Please don’t come sit by me!”. I can’t help but laugh a little bit, because I would have done the exact same thing! As I am waiting, my sister calls me to see if everything is ok, but then she begins to ask questions and try to hold a conversation…she needs to get her wisdom teeth removed, but she is too chicken…yeah, I’m talking about you. Anyone that knows me, knows that my mouth moves non-stop, however, this was a time that I was not even trying to talk. Once I get home, I take me a couple of Tylenol, b/c the anesthesia was beginning to wear off a little and went to sleep. For the first 24 hours I needed to use the cold compress to control swelling and bruising, but I was not hearing that right now…I was trying to go to sleep! So for the first 24 hours afterwards my schedule was sleep for four hours, wake up, apply cold compress, take ibuprofen, drink Slimfast, take anti-biotic, go back to sleep. The swelling went down fairly quickly and I had no bruising what so-ever. I did not develop dry sockets, and your girl is good to go!

If Only I Had A Man...

That would let me know that everything is going to be alright when I am having a rough day.
That would sit with me and talk about everything while talking about nothing.
That realizes I'm not the typical chick.
That believes me and believes in me.
That can melt me with one touch.
That thinks of me before he acts.
That understands that I am the best person to have in his corner.
That realizes I always act with him in mind.
That calls me before he goes to bed, just to hear the sound of my voice.
That wants me to be his best friend.
That asks me what I'm thinking, or how I'm feeling before drawing his own conclusions.
That would talk to me, and let me know what's on his mind.
That greets me and asks how was my day when I get home from work.
That understands I will not always agree with him...but I am always for him...never against him.
That can accept me, all of me, flaws and all.
That would offer me the world if it were his to give.
That would hug me so tightly that I get lost in his arms.
If only...

Flush that Ish!

Man, kstate handed us ours. I can take a hard fought loss, but we just straight got our azz kicked. There is a lot on the line this weekend, and if anything, we should at least be playing for pride.

Why does the Yoplait container read: "May naturally support healthy digestion?" Why advertise your product might do something? You're not certain that it will, but it just might.

Well, looks like I might not be going to DFW after all. However, I am still taking my half day off from work tomorrow, because I can use some me time. Maybe things will change between now and Friday morning…then maybe they will stay the same.

I love a casual work environment. Sometimes the feet need a nice pair of sneakers…can't wear heels every day.

I need the temperature to drop a little bit, so I can pull out the boots.

Left over pasta for lunch…I really want a cheesy greasy burger and some homemade french fries. Might be my game day meal this Saturday.

It's been a couple of weekends since I've had some ice cream…might have to get me some Cold Stone this weekend.

I have made some decisions a while back, that I am still paying for today…literally.

I make my living as a professional stalker.

In an effort to reduce costs, I have been making bootleg lemonade in the office…I have a stash of concentrated lemon juice and sugar. It kinda taste like Country Time Lemonade.

I'm all about lining the toilet seat…but flush that ish when you are done...please and thank you.

Can't Touch This

I've been around the world, from London to the bay…it's hammer go hammer, mc hammer, yo hammer, and the rest can go and play, Can't touch this!

Countdown to TX vs. OU! But first…We have to get through the K State game this weekend. I'm excited to see how my boys do in their first Big 12 matchup of the year.

You know, there is someone I really want to see…soon…

What goes around, comes around, what goes up, must come down…this has been in my head for some reason,.

I am looking for a pair of black round toe clunky platform pumps…if you see a pair, let me know!

Man, a shrimp po'boy would hit the spot right about now.

I really want to wear my cowboy boots tomorrow…don't know how well that will fare with this TX heat.

It's just a fantasy, yep-yep, Image in a magazine…

Yep, today is another musical tourette's day.

When you took me out, I knew were you were all about…

LinkedIn is for networking…but if people can't contact you directly without being one of your established contacts…too much work.

I don't have a MySpace page, and I don't plan on getting one either.

Texas Fight, Texas Fight
For its Texas that we love best
Give 'em hell! Give 'em hell!
Go horns go!
And it's goodbye to all the rest.

Happy Labor Day!

I asked a friend what his plans were this labor day holiday, and he said "To try not to labor." Sounds like a good plan to me. So don't work too hard out there, and I thought I'd give you some music to party to at the bbq. Whatcha got, Spades or Gin Rummy?

Are you ready for some football?!

I am! I was so ready for the University of Texas opener against Arkansas State. I went and bought my new game day shirt…I was ready for game day. Then I discovered, the game was not going to be televised…no Big 12 network affiliate was willing to pick the game up. So, it would have to be ordered for $29.95. So I called my friend to ask what she was going to do for the game. She said she might call some other friends see if they wanted to come over, and she would order the game. Or, she mentioned going to Pluckers to watch the game…ok, Pluckers I can do. Then, I call my sister and ask her what she was going to do for the game. She did not realize it was ppv either. So, we decided we would order the game and I would go in half with her. But…she later realized that she had to meet with her group for class at 6:30 and would not be home. After this revelation, I talked to another friend, who had a ticket to go, but decided against it. Said friend, has a friend that has season tickets because her mother is UT faculty. But this is the killer…said friend's, friend could care less about football, probably even more less about UT football, but she’s a season ticket holder. This ish burns me up. For some folks it’s about status…”Oh, I have season tickets”. Ask them anything about the game, and or the team, and they could not tell you JACK! Anyway, so I resolved to staying home, and listening to the game. I did not feel like being bothered with people out in public. Especially drunken people. Then, a friend of mind decides to give me a hard time, talkin’ bout I am not a true fan. So then, I felt a little guilty. So, I call my sister and have her call the brother –in-law (yeah, he’s not into football like me and the sis are), to see if it was ok if I ordered the game (Yeah, I’m cheap and I don’t have cable…yeah, yeah, yeah…I know). So, I get in the car, drive over to their place, and my nieces are watching Disney in the living room. I inform them that they will have to watch TV in their parents room (apparently they don’t have cable in their bedroom) because I was going to watch the football game. So, I turn it onto one pay per view channel (that I read was for the UT game), and there was another game listed, so I go up to the next channel, and there is a black screen. Next thing I know, South Florida vs. Who in the hell knows, game was on. So, I immediately call Time Warner to cancel this game, and make sure they would not be billed for it. I dial 512-485-5555, and the first thing I hear is, “If you want to order the TX game, go to channel…401”. “401, I thought…yeah, that’s not the channel that was advertised, either that or I can’t read”. So, I punch all the magic numbers to get to customer service, and hear, “Your call has been placed in queue for the next customer service representative”.
“Ok, how long is this going to be I think to myself”. Then I hear a ring and a recording comes on, letting me know there will be an hour to an hour and sixteen minute wait, and prompts me to enter my phone number for a call back. So I enter my sister’s number and I wait. Then here was my dilemma…it was not my account, so I did not want to go ahead and order the UT game, before ensuring that the other game was not being charged. So now, I am frustrated and beyond disappointed. I decided to go home, and then I called in again, to leave my home phone number. I chat for bit on IM, then I decided to go to Which Wich? To get me a shrimp po’boy, which was pretty good for $5.14. Anyhoo, so I leave, come back, start eating, and low and behold, Time Warner calls me back. It took the representative a minute to locate the account, for some reason phone number and address did not work for her…so she had to search by name. Then she informed me, that it did not appear that any games had been ordered and that there was glitch with the system. So two hours later, I realized…”I should have just ordered the game.”. Yes, I missed the Longhorn season opener.  Good thing is was not a good game, it was almost a bad game…we only beat Arkansas State by a TD. The final score was 21-13. Oh well, a win is a win. We just better be ready for TCU next week! My universe is off because I was not able to watch the game yesterday. I don't care what I have to do, I will NOT miss next week's game. Hook’em!
